GHBT- Diamond Peak Series by Tahlia Newland- Review of Eternal Destiny

Eternal Destiny

By- Tahlia Newland
Genre- YA Fantasy

Ariel and Nick face their deepest fears and their greatest challenge as they search for the Master Demon who holds the key to the future of mankind. Slay him and the world goes free; fail, and it falls irrevocably into violence and chaos.

Guided by a wisdom master of a mystical tradition that uses mind power as the basis of powerful magic, the assault party travels from the ancient granite walls of the Hermitage, up the Steps of Death, and through a labyrinth of shifting gorges to the Palace of Skulls. Even if Nick wins his struggle with the scars of his past and defeats the green-eyed head of the Cogin clan, they still must cross the scree slope, where the bones of Ariel's father lie, to get to the ice caves beneath the summit where the Master Demon awaits.

The journey is extraordinary, the enemies are deadly and the ending is mind-blowing.

Of Sparta
Of Legacies #2
By- Victoria Escobar
Genre- YA Fantasy

She was the strongest of Gaea’s Servants. Miera had been trained from childhood to be Faithful always to the Goddess. She had been taught with Faith they would always be protected. She had never wavered from that course. She hadn’t counted on the consequences of that choice.

As Ariadne’s birthday draws closer darkness closes in on Sparta. Monsters, both Tainted and Pure alike, were vying for pieces of their island. Doubt and fear grew like pestilence. Death was unavoidable.

Sparta sat on the brink, but of what Miera wasn’t certain. There was no record, no precedence for her to consult. There were no living patrons of the Goddess to seek council from. She only had instinct and Faith. If she could not maintain the balance Sparta would fall before Gaea’s return.

How did the lost lead the people out of darkness?

GHBT- Diamond Peak Series by Tahlia Newland- Review of Stalking Shadows

Stalking Shadows
Diamond Peak Series #2
By- Tahlia Newland

Ariel hopes that the great library at Sheldra holds the key to rescuing her mother. But in order to get there, she must negotiate a forest of evil spirits, escape a mind-numbing city of sparkling towers, travel through the treacherous gullies of Minion Hills, and avoid an attack by a demon lord intent on killing her.
At the same time, a battle rages between her heart and her mind. A relationship with her travelling companion, the enigmatic Nick, is just too tempting, but can they be together without Ariel losing her focus and falling to the demons? Her life is at stake, but also her heart. She risks encasing it in stone and denying herself the very sustenance she needs.
Will they make it to the safe haven of Sheldra, or will Ariel die at the hands of the yellow-eyed demon?

Stalking Shadows is the second novel in The Diamond Peak Series by Tahlia Newland. Once again we are swept away on a journey with our heroine Ariel, who is on a mission to save her abducted mother with some unlikely friends and a talking cat. With demons out for her blood, Ariel has to be quick on her feet and fast to act if she plans on saving her mother and coming out the other side alive.

I am very much enjoying reading The Diamond Peak Series. Newland's style is like nothing I've ever seen before and I find it very entertaining to follow along with the story. Ariel is a fun character with a strong personality and her partners are all equally as amazing. The entire series is action-packed and I find myself biting my nails while I flip through trying to find out what happens next.

This is a great YA fantasy read and I would definitely recommend it. I wish I could delve into why, but I don't want to spoil anything for readers who haven't read Lethal Inheritance yet (and yes, you really do have to read that one first).

My Rating:

Tahlia Newland, author of the multi-award-winning Diamond Peak Series, writes heart-warming and inspiring magical realism and contemporary fantasy. She is also an editor, a reviewer, an occasional high school teacher, and a mask-maker who loves creating digital art and sitting on her veranda staring at the rain forest.

Tahlia has studied with top Australian editors and has a Certificate in Editing and Proofreading. Before writing full time, she had over 20 years’ experience in scripting and performing as a dancer/mine in Visual Theatre and Theatre in Education. She has had extensive training in meditation and Buddhist philosophy and lives in Australia with a husband, a teenage daughter, and a cheeky Burmese cat called George.

GHBT- My Demonic Ghost Series by Jacinta Maree- Review

My Demonic Ghost: Banished Spirits
Series-My Demonic Ghost Book #1
By- Jacinta Maree
Genre- YA Paranormal/Ghosts
Published By- Staccato Publishing

Rachael has traveled to Whitehaven to visit her father, a trek she can not help but dread given his recent descent into madness. Upon her arrival she realizes his deterioration has not only been mental, it’s been physical as well. His death comes as no surprise, but what she discovers soon after, is shocking when his burden becomes hers.

Lock is a banished spirit who must attach himself to a human host in order to hide from those who would drag him back to hell to be destroyed. When he meets Rachael he finds more than a host, he finds an ally.

Together they must defeat each of the seven sins in order to guarantee Lock's safe passage into the Third Realm, a loophole in creation that would allow him to escape hell and have peace at long last. Through their unlikely friendship, other banished spirits flock to them in hopes of a peace they hadn't dreamt possible.

My Demonic Ghost: Banished Spirits is the first book in the My Demonic Ghost Series by Jacinta Maree. In this installment of the series, we follow Rachael, whose father has taken a spiral into insanity--he believes he's possessed. Even Rachael believed he was crazy, but after his passing, she finds out not only was he telling the truth, but now his ghost, Lock, has become hers.

This book is f***ing AWESOME. I'm not even going to be official and professional right now, I was completely floored by this one. It is a completely different take on ghosts and possession, and I was sucked right in from the first chapter. Maree has a unique perspective and an awesome-epic-amazing idea here and I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT.

I am getting the paperbacks and rereading these five hundred more times. GET IT.

My Demonic Ghost: The Reapers
Series- My Demonic Ghost # 2
By- Jacinta Maree
Genre- YA Paranormal/Ghosts
Published By- Staccato Publishing

The day you die is meant to be the end, but for 18 year old Jordon Hastings, his death was only the beginning.

In a dark and twisted world, lost spirits known as Reapers remain behind after death to help collect the spirits from the realm of the living. A new Reaper, Jordon struggles to accept his fate and lingers in the shadows of his mortal life. But when a demon wolf starts to live through his shadow, hunting his family and friends Jordon has no choice but to leave. As soon as he accepts his new role the truth behind the relationship between Reapers and Angelic Hunters is revealed. His loyalty is tested, making him choose between a corrupted God and a single Banished Spirit.

My Demonic Ghost: The Reapers is the second book in the My Demonic Ghost Series by Jacinta Maree. In this installment, we have some reoccurring characters from Banished Spirits but it is, essentially, a whole different story. Jordan is an eighteen year old reaper who is not all that thrilled with his new "career"... He is starting to begrudgingly accept his fate when a new friend, Raix arrives and makes everything all the more difficult.

As you can see above, I really really really frickin' loved Banished Spirits, so The Reapers had a lot to live up to. Sequels after epicness scare the crap out of me because I always worry it just won't live up to its predecessor. Happily for me, NOT the case. The Reapers lives in the same world that Banished Spirits does, but it has a whole new story with the same incredible ideas. Once again I'm floored--I read this one even faster than the first one.

I cannot wait for book 3 from Jacinta... Or anything from her, honestly. I have a new fave!!

Self confessed chocaholic, Jacinta was born and raised in Melbourne Australia with her loving family of five. Even as a child Jacinta had an itch to write. Writing was the one constant hobby she clung to, also trying her hand at piano, flute, tennis, horseback riding and drama.

Jacinta works full time in the family business and spends her afternoons either playing basketball, reading, writing or hanging out with friends. She is always happy to try something new; getting her real estate license, practicing ninjitshu, Zumba and parkour to name a few.

For her future, Jacinta sees herself writing. It is a large part of her identity and something she hopes to continue. Aside from her love of stories she loves Japan and its unique and beautiful culture and history. From their delicious sushi dishes right down to their wooden sandals and kimonos. She is also a huge cat person and loves to snuggle up in front of the fire for a good movie or book. Her favorite genres are paranormal and fantasy but she also loves anything written by thriller writer, Stephen King.
