The Unsacred Gift by C.S. Dorsey Blog Tour: Review, Interview & Giveaway

Have you ever had a dream that came to life? How about losing the one you love and not being able to save them? What about a gift that you were cursed with? Well image having all three like Sicily "Sissy" Monroe.

"Some might say what I have is a gift. I say, I want to return it." Sissy declares.

Sicily "Sissy" Monroe has all the qualities of a perfect young lady. She is almost where she wants to be in life. But lying deep in the pupil of her eyes hold something that she cannot get rid of which interferes with her plans. She fights everyday with no one but herself. After having her first vision at age six of her sister's (Misty) disappearance and the dreams of failing to save her, Sissy wants no part in another person's fate. For years Sissy tried hard to avoid contact with people because she feared foreseeing their death. In keeping with this, she tries to stay away from her family. Little did Sissy know she could not run from her past, or her gift. She hopes someone will put her out of her misery, but she will soon discover that her visions and dreams were just a mere image of herself.

The Unsacred Gift is a stand alone novel by C.S Dorsey about a young woman struggling with a terrifying gift she doesn't understand. When contacted about reading this book, I was instantly intrigued by the synopsis.

Honestly, I find it hard to talk about this book without giving something critical away. I'll try my best, though. Sissy is a wonderful character and you find yourself praying things will start to go her way soon. You can't help but pity her situation; cutting herself off from her family and denying herself any kind of real relationship for fear of what she'll see is eating her up inside.

Gripping, suspenseful and thought provoking, this book was a fast, very intense read. I spent the duration of the book on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what would happen with Sissy next. The twist is huge and I definitely didn't see it coming at all. All in all, a very enjoyable read!

My Rating:

C.S. Dorsey, author of The Unsacred Gift was kind enough to answer a few questions for us as part of her blog tour!

Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I am a cat lover who doesn’t own one. I am hoping to have one soon. I live in sunny California near the San Francisco Bay. I am a proud single woman with no children (yes I would love to have only one child someday... just not today). I live with my mother, so you know how that goes. Every day she is looking to marry me off which gets annoying at times. By day I am a member service rep for a credit union. By night I am a young adult author trying to find time to write. So yeah Superwoman has nothing on me...LOL!! :)

What inspired you to write your first book?
My first book was something that just happened all of a sudden. Like many authors you hear voices, and up until now I thought I was alone when it came to hearing voices, but I found out that I am not. So there is no need to be admitted into the asylum.

The idea of writing a book was a nice though, but I didn’t think I would be able to do something so great. The character (Sissy) just started talking to me while I was at work. I wasn’t on any type of drugs or anything, and I haven’t taken a Motrin that day, so I didn’t have anything to blame the hearing voices on. The voice wouldn’t go away it just told me to write everything down. I didn’t want any trouble so I did what it said. It was kind of eerie but fun :)

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Yes, the message I want my readers to understand is if you have a gift never be afraid to embrace it. It’s ok if you have visions or dreams (dreams that makes sense). Some people have those types of gifts in reality.

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
There is one new author that has grasped my interest, and I think she has grasped everyone’s attention and that is, Amanda Hocking. I think her writing is very entertaining and amazing. I have read all of her book and I am looking for more. I think everyone needs to watch out for her. She is going places.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
I want to say thank you for your support and reading my book(s). There is more to come from C. S. Dorsey so be on the lookout.

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer our questions!
Thank you for having me :)
