Under a Painted Sky is the first book in the Spirit Warrior Series by Jenna Roads. I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this story very much. It was interesting throughout and exciting in places. The characters were engaging even if they seemed too good to be true in some instances. The pacing was a bit slow at the beginning, but once things started happening, I was completely intrigued. I am looking forward to reading book two and finding out what comes next for Isabella and Logan.
And here is our interview with debut author, Jenna Roads!
My Rating:
*Thanks so much for taking the time to chat with us, Jenna! Thank you for having me on your awesome blog.
*Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Well, I can tell you that I love to read, write, scrapbook, travel and laugh. I really just enjoy life and meeting new people. I can’t breathe without music.
*When did you know you wanted to be an author?
I have always enjoyed telling stories my whole life. I have always had a dream of being an author but could not afford giving up my day job. My situation has changed and so I decided to go for my dream about 7 months ago.
*Do you like to listen to music while you write, or do you prefer the quiet?
I love to listen to music while I am doing everything. I love some of all kinds music. I guess my tastes are very eclectic.
*It seems like authors break down into two groups, plotters (authors who outline and are extremely detail oriented) and pantsers (authors who are more ‘go with the flow’ and kind of fly by the seat of their pants)-which group do you fit into?
I try to be a plotter and I layout things and then it just seems like the characters and situations just take over. After I write settings and set -up the scenes, I get an epiphany and the story runs away.
*What authors have influenced you & your writing?
Author Shelly Crane is my very favorite and I have read all of her book. Nicholas Sparks is another very favorite author. Since I am an Indie author I am really getting into Indie books and there are many great authors. I better quit so I don’t hurt feelings.
*What was your favorite book as a child?
‘The Catcher In The Rye’
*Can you tell us what’s next for you? I am working on book two in The Spirit Warrior Series called ‘Through the Eyes of Love’.
*Lana and I both have an unending love for really good cheesecake; is there a dessert you can’t say no to?
I too can’t say no to cheesecake especially from the Cheesecake Factory like white chocolate caramel Macadamia nut.
