Poison
By Bridget Zinn
Published: March 12, 2013Published By: Disney HyperionSixteen-year-old Kyra, a highly-skilled potions master, is the only one who knows her kingdom is on the verge of destruction—which means she’s the only one who can save it. Faced with no other choice, Kyra decides to do what she does best: poison the kingdom’s future ruler, who also happens to be her former best friend. But, for the first time ever, her poisoned dart . . . misses. Now a fugitive instead of a hero, Kyra is caught in a game of hide-and-seek with the king’s army and her potioner ex-boyfriend, Hal. At least she’s not alone. She’s armed with her vital potions, a too-cute pig, and Fred, the charming adventurer she can’t stop thinking about. Kyra is determined to get herself a second chance (at murder), but will she be able to find and defeat the princess before Hal and the army find her?Kyra is not your typical murderer, and she’s certainly no damsel-in-distress—she’s the lovable and quick-witted hero of this romantic novel that has all the right ingredients to make teen girls swoon.
When looking back on my blogging career thus far, I have a hard time picking out my most memorable 'first'. I've been racking my brain all week trying to pick just one of all the amazing things that have come from my decision to join the blogging community and flailing in uncertainty.
Today, though, while I sat here in front of my bookshelves, I realized it was really an easy decision. A few months ago, I was lucky enough to read an ARC of CRUSH by Lacey Weatherford. I fell instantly in love with this book, I reviewed it and then sat back and waited for news on a sequel.
In the midst of the waiting for news on a sequel, Lacey was selling signed paperback copies of CRUSH and of course, I HAD to have one. To my surprise, when the book arrived there was a blurb from MY review on the back cover of the book. I have to be honest and admit that there was some jumping up and down going on here. I honestly could not contain my excitement. Then, I opened it up to read the inscription and saw another blurb on the inside! I know I started sort of shrieking and laughing all at the same time until my husband came to investigate what the racket was all about. I have no memory of what words were actually coming out of my mouth though.
I'd like to think that if Bridget was still with us, release day would be that way for her. Just a happy confusing swirl of emotions that would buoy her up and make her beam with happiness and accomplishment. Everyone should know that feeling of utter joy at some point in their life.
First, I'd like to pass a ginormous thank you to both Inara Scott for inviting us on this tour, and Mel, for letting me know about it so I could take part.
Though I have to say, picking out my most exciting and memorable "first" has been horrendously difficult... And if I may, I have to say I don't really have a favorite.. There have been so many fantastic moments I've had just being a part of this blog, I don't think I could ever single just one out..
The first time I reviewed a request, or when someone addressed me personally in an email. When I made an author smile because I gushed and gif'd all over my review over their work, or when I got to do my first interview... When I ask authors if I could review their book and they agreed, or just the pure joy of having someone say they'll read a book because of my review... As corny as I know I must sound, I've honestly loved every waking moment of being on this blog with Mel, and I don't see the thrill ever going away... This is the most fun I've had in my life. :)
I'd like to believe that immense happiness is what Bridget would've felt, seeing her books on public display, and I do believe she's doing a happy dance on whatever ground she's on now..
Here is a list of all the other lovely bloggers and authors who are paying tribute to Bridget-be sure to check them all out please and definitely pick up a copy of Poison!

It is my pleasure to be a part of this tour! I am looking forward to buying Poison and adding it to my shelves! Thank you for taking the time to stop by our blog.
DeleteAll the best-
Mel & Lana
I saw the cover as I skimmed through the blog a few days ago and thought this looked like a good book, but I'm a few days behind on reading it because I've been ill. But, this looks wonderful and I'm so glad that it's finally reaching readers. I've added it to my TBR list and I see it taking a back seat to the books that have been patiently waiting a few weeks.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I've visited Bridget's website and I will be purchasing a hard copy for donation to my town's library. Everyone should have a chance to read this book. :)
