Few Are Angels Birthday Bash

Few Are Angels
Few Are Angels Series #1
Inger Iversen

After a fatal hit and run accident, Ella Monroe fears that she’s lost more than her beloved parents. Horrifying visions of a past life and a disturbing voice in her head have psychiatric professionals convinced that she’s lost her sanity as well. But when Kale--a dark and handsome stranger with a mysterious past--reveals the true meaning of her visions and the tremendous power she wields through them, Ella must come to terms with the devastating truths of her own past, while eluding an ancient Dark Prince who seeks to control not only her future, but all of mankind’s, by means of abilities that Ella is only beginning to understand.

Enter the shrouded world of an age old battle between an ancient race known as the Immortals and their bitter enemy Laurent, the so-called Dark Prince, who commands an army of half-breed vampires known as Chorý. Both sides have been desperately searching for the prophesied emergence of the Arc, a clairvoyant with unparalleled power to recall the past and a soothsayer with clear vision into the future.

The Council of Immortals has sworn to protect the Arc, whom they have identified as young Ella Monroe, a college freshman from Virginia living quietly and unaware of her powers or her past. But a renegade Chorý has other plans for the protection of a girl he has loved through the ages. Can Kale convince Ella of who she is, what she is destined to become, and what he once meant to her? Is he truly the best protector to shield the world from the devastating misuse of her powers that Laurent is bent on controlling? Or will the forbidden love they share and Kale’s cursed condition as a wretched and hated Chorý be used against them both?

This paranormal romance told from the heroine’s perspective builds in intensity and intrigue to a finale you won’t see coming. Heart pounding action mixed with heartwarming friendships and heartbreaking romance will leave you breathless and begging for more.

Xpresso Tours: Surface by Tiffany Daune- Excerpt & Giveaway

Surface
Tiffany Daune
Publication: February, 2013
Genre: YA Paranormal

Bound to the water bound to land, a Siren’s soul will never be safe on either side of the ocean’s surface. Hidden beneath the rolling waves lies the secret to Theia’s past and as she unveils each haunting truth, she realizes the last seventeen years of her life have been a lie. Now, drawn into a mysterious new world and with nowhere to turn, Theia must place her trust in Luc, a beautiful boy who stops her heart with each dazzling smile, but even his unearthly charm can’t hide the truth—he has secrets— dark secrets binding him to his world—an underwater world where Theia will never belong—a world determined to destroy her soul.

And here is in an excerpt from Surface!

The rain continued to drown out the sun, and Theia had no idea what time of day it was, but she was sure she wouldn't make it until nightfall. Her limbs grew heavy like an anchor seeking the sandy bottom. She let her eyelids slide closed. She couldn't fall asleep—sleep meant death in the middle of the ocean, but resting her eyes let her imagine someplace else—a place without so much water.

Her head dipped below the surface, and she bolted up at once.

Bad girl, she scolded herself. You want to die like this? You have to stay awake!

She continued her mental pep talk as she straightened her legs and swam a little farther. Her legs worked like scissors, cutting through the thick water, leading her to nowhere, but she had to try to find the shore. She found her rhythm, moving with the flow of the water, moving faster now, imagining the shoreline before her.

Theia kicked harder, her eyes focused on the horizon. She thrust forward, but, as she did, her ankle caught on something—she was stuck. She kicked with her left leg, but a crushing hold, like a fist wrapped around her ankle. Her scream was cut off as her head slipped under. Her body rushed through the water as if being dragged by an invisible tow rope.

Theia twisted, wriggling free from the force, and she frantically paddled her way to the surface. Her leg burned with the sting of salt water—she had been cut. She reached for her leg, trying to see the wound, but she was swiped from the side. She screamed and tucked her legs up to her chest. Her gaze darted to the ring of dark shadows circling beneath her.

      "Oh crap—sharks!"
And now, because we love you guys, here's a giveaway!

Tiffany Daune doesn't get why people want to grow up or why anyone would ever stop eating candy. Her purse is filled with books, lip gloss and a few pieces of Lego bricks. She writes best with a dish of chocolate chips on hand and finds licorice makes a better straw than plastic.

She lives on an island and believes mermaids may be raiding her candy stash, thoughshe hasn't caught them, yet.

Surface is her first novel and pairs well with gummy sharks.

Girls Heart Books Tours: The Color Keepers by Catriona Crehan- Review & Dream Cast

The Color Keepers
By Catriona Crehan
Publication Date-May 1st

Hoping to have a good change and good ending to go with it, Emily, a 16- year-old girl from Ohio, has moved to sunny California.

Moving to a new town can be scary, especially a new school. So when Sam, the most popular kid there, looks her way, she can’t believe this is happening to her.

Everything seems to be working out fine. That is, until her mother buys an enchanted mirror by mistake.

Suddenly, Emily finds herself in a whole new world, full of talking animals, magic and more change than she was hoping for.

With the help of her new crush, Sam, and her annoyingly goofy 12-year-old brother James, Emily sets out to save their world and ours.
Amazon

Goodreads

The Color Keepers by Catriona Crehan is a Young Adult novel with a beautiful cover-- It is honestly what made me want to read this book. I loved the irony of this blank brown/black/white cover with such a title as The Color Keepers intrigued me from the beginning.

This book is not on my normal drama level. It is definitely geared toward a younger audience and, to be honest, I don't mind that at all. While it's still not graphic or vomit inducing (the fact that's my MO says a lot about me, eh? ;D) it is still a pretty good read. The characters are all very well developed and the plot line is steady and kept at a good pace.

I am very glad I was so drawn in by the cover. Great read!

My Rating:

*If your book was made into a movie, who would you cast as the main characters?

I love doing this, as I can already envision it being a movie! That would be so cool, right?

Emily, our main character would HAVE to be played by Hailee Steinfeld. I loved her in True Grit, she’s a fantastic actress.

Sam, her crush, would be awesome if played by Josh Hutcherson, from The Hunger Games. I think he’s a great actor and would pull off Sam, perfectly!

Her brother, the annoying and goofy kid James, would be played by Asa Butterfield. He was the star of “Hugo”. I loved that movie. I remembered seeing it and thinking, he would be PERFECT for James!

Last but not least, The Crow Queen... HAS to be played by Liv Tyler. I’ve only ever seen her in nice roles. It would be a great change to see her play someone evil. Not to mention the Crow Queen is supposed to be extremely beautiful and she fits the bill :)

Click to Subscribe Blog Tour: Review

Click to Subscribe
By L.M. Augustine
Published May 9th, 2013

1,135,789. That’s how many subscribers sixteen-year-old West Ryder has on his web vlog series. But he only has eyes for one of them.

As one of the internet’s most prestigious video bloggers, West talks about high school relationships under the name “Sam Green.” As far as he knows, no one from school, not even his best friend, Cat, has seen his videos. But the highlight of the whole thing is Harper Knight, who comments every day at exactly 2:02 in the afternoon. He doesn’t know anything about her aside from the occasional deep philosophical messaging on why pizza tastes so delicious, but as stupid as it sounds, he might be falling for her. So when they finally agree to meet in real life, West’s hope for romance seems more and more in reach. But that all changes as soon as he arrives at their meeting spot and sees Cat walking toward him, wearing the same “I <3 Sam Green” T-shirt Harper promised she'd have on.

To his alarm, West realizes he is falling in love with the best friend who has always been a sister to him.
When I first read the summary to Click to Subscribe, I was instantly intrigued. I've always been a fan of books with relationships that started anonymous, books where the boy loves his best friend, etc. and jumped at the chance to read it. And while yes, it's not my normal level of drama and angst, I am glad to say my expectations were met.

Surprisingly enough the book did not go exactly as I thought it would-- And when it comes to romance, I can pretty much tell you what will happen on every page just from reading the first chapter. So when this one took a few unexpected turns, I have to say I was thrilled.

If you're looking for a quick, lighthearted/not-boring-at-all book, this is definitely for you :)

TTC & B2B Blog Tours: Shattered Illusions Blog Tour: Spotlight, Excerpt & Giveaway

When Sam, the unassuming, salt-of-the-earth proprietor of a local cafe is shot dead on the street, four strangers become the unwitting witnesses to a seemingly inscrutable crime. As the investigation progresses, this quartet of accidental onlookers find themselves not only haunted by the homicide, but pursued by their own pasts.

The deeper into the death they delve, the further into their own personal histories they plummet, as each is forced to face the fact that the loss of Sam is far from their most devastating. As the case continues, inner anguish reaches crescendo points for Danny, Ella, Marco, and Sarah as the answers they want continue to elude them, and the evidence they want to escape refuses to retreat...

And now, an excerpt from Shattered Illusions:

I DON’T KNOW WHERE I am—somewhere between heaven and hell, a place of utter terror and endless confusion. This place, only brought to life in my most horrifying nightmares, is suddenly within my reach, the place that I had feared to find, in which all would be complete, in which I would die. The darkness of the situation has enveloped my being. Am I still living? Yes. Am I going to die at any given moment? Definitely. By whose hands? My own, or those of the shadows lurking in my midst? There is no sky, there is no earth, just a deep, black pit, never-ending in its power. The night has come to ransack my soul.By now, I have learned that insanity is the only way to bear it. How else? Death is not an easy thing to accept, because in truth, it is an insane occurrence, at least to those creatures that are allowed to live. I am broken, unearthed, defeated. There is no time, no space; I have no past, present, or future. I am now nothing more than an illusion of what once was and will never be again.

But then she was murdered and all he saw was a running silhouette of a man as his mother said three final words to him. Three words that changed his whole being. Never stop running… Now he's semi-settled into a big town. The college is huge and easy to blend into. It's been three months since he had to move because 'Biloxi', as he calls the man who killed his mother, found him once more. Review: Day After by Emi Gayle- Interview + Giveaway

Day After
The 19th Year Book 2
By Emi Gayle
Release Date: May 6, 2013

Demon crypts. Vampire lairs. Glowing angels. Sexy sirens. The stuff of fiction.

Or so Winn Thomas always thought.

Since being accepted into the fold of the supernatural, he knows better. None of what he imagined is true, but everything he feared is, and binding himself to his Changeling girlfriend until her nineteenth birthday will give him an education far beyond what he’d get at his human high school.

Luckily, Winn’s not giving up, he won’t back down, and he definitely isn’t going to run away with his tail between his legs. After all, only werewolves have tails. Right?

In this, the second of the 19th Year trilogy, Winn’s facing the challenge of one lifetime. If he doesn’t learn the truth about mythological creatures, his girlfriend Mac Thorne won’t either. That means, in six months, when she chooses her final form, she won’t know what to pick.

Winn, though, has his own ideas about Mac’s final selection—plans she knows nothing of.

He intends to have her pick human.

Whether she can or not.

*throws everything I can possibly pick up around the building until I pass out from exhaustion*

You're all in a group of evil, aren't you? Run by the devil. All you authors that leave us poor, innocent readers with CLIFFHANGERS for a year... It's cruel you know. All of you. *glare*

Now that I have yelled at the authors, hello, fellow readers, how are you today? I would like to tell you all of this book here, Day After, the second book of Emi Gayle's The 19th Year Series. This story is awesome. As I'm sure you can tell from my little tyrant and from the summary (who doesn't want to read that, honestly?).

Unfortunately for you all, seeing how this is book 2, I can't really go all fangirly crazy, as I don't want to give anything away. Because Gayle is very good at keeping her readers on their toes and holding their breath and screaming in public, if I were to say, "This happens in the end" you would all hate me and you know it, right? Right. *sigh* Now I get to stew in a corner all alone...

Anyhow. THIS BOOK IS AWESOME. AWE. SOME. That is all. :P

My Rating:

And now, my interview with Emi Gayle herself! <3

*Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Well ... here’s my bio and it’s all true!

Emi Gayle just wants to be young again. She lives vicariously through her youthful characters, while simultaneously acting as chief-Mom to her teenaged son and searching for a way to keep her two daughters from ever reaching the dreaded teen years.

Ironically, those years were some of Emi's favorite times. She met the man of her dreams at 14, was engaged to him at 19, married him at 20 and she's still in love with him to this day. She'll never forget what it was like to fall in love at such a young age — emotions she wants everyone to feel.

*What inspired you to write The 19th Year?
The entire trilogy just came to me one day. I was sitting there and I thought, “what if, at 18 years old (19 really) a girl had to pick what she’d be for the rest of her life. Literally. The rest. End of story, no take backs, no changies. One job. Forever. And of course, I had to make it paranormal because in real life, we aren’t stuck like that!

*Do you have a character you like writing more so than others? If so, why?
I LOVE writing Suze. He’s my comedic break, so when I’m being all serious and Mac and Winn are stressing me out, I write Suze.

*If you could spend one day with any literary character ever written, who would you choose and why?
I want to meet Ethan Holloway from the Holloway Pack stories by J.A. Belfield. I’ll let you figure out why. His story is coming up in Caged!

*Do you listen to music while you work, or do you prefer to write in silence?
I work wherever and with whatever’s around me. I can write much faster in silence, but I can write with the tv blaring, kids fighting, etc.

*Mel and I have a weakness for good quality cheesecake- Is there a desert you just can't say no to?
Molten Lava fudge cake from Chilis. O.M.G.

*What's next for you?
Well, I’ve finised the first book in a series that’s dystopian, set in 2132 and totally different than my normal paranormal because it’s contemprary and it’s for the New Adult market vs. the YA as the character is 18, but in 2132, 18 year old become adults.
