Sneak Peak of Smitten:

"You don't need to babysit me," I said laughing. "I'm a big girl, and I can take care of myself, regardless of what Hunter thinks."
"That may be," Russ replied, leaning back onto his elbows as he stared at me. "But I'm not taking any chances. Hunter would slit my throat if something happened to you."
I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "He loves you too much to do anything like that. Especially after he saved your life once already. He’d never do anything to hurt you—you know that.”
He shrugged. "Would you risk his full wrath to find out if that's true?"
I laughed heartily. "Point taken."
"Did you get your math homework done?"
"I did. Are you ready for the big test?" I went to the bed to get my bag and books sitting there.
"No, but then again, I doubt I ever will be. I'll walk with you to class, though—might as well get the torture over with.” He gave a hefty sigh of defeat.
I chuckled again. "I'm sure it won’t be that bad.”
“I beg to differ,” he replied. “Not all of us are mathematical geniuses like you. The rest of us humble folk have to be content to wallow in the shadows of people like you, Oh Great One.”
I couldn’t help my snort. “Whatever! You’re so full of crap! You’re amazing and you know it!”
He gave me a warm stare. “You know, I wish we would’ve known each other better in high school. You’re a pretty awesome chick. I totally see why Hunter digs you so much.” He opened the door, and I followed him out.
“Yeah, it’s too bad everyone is so worried about cliques and social status.”
“That wasn’t why I didn’t talk to you.”
“Really?” I asked, surprised. “Why then?”
“You were too intimidating.”
I laughed. “Excuse me? How?”
“You were this gorgeous, smart, girl. What girl like you would pay attention to a guy like me?”
I stared at him, my jaw hanging open. “You’re not serious, are you? Have you looked at yourself in the mirror? You’re a great looking guy, with a spectacular personality. Any girl would be lucky to have you!”
“And that right there is precisely why I couldn’t talk to you. You use words like spectacular. That’s intimidating to us hard-to-educate people. Big words are hard to comprehend.”
I laughed. “Comprehend is almost as big as spectacular. There’s only one letter difference.”
He shook his head. “You’re only proving my point more. Who knows that kind of stuff? Besides, one letter makes a world of difference!”
“You’re sure about that?” I couldn’t help laughing when Russ was around. He always brought a smile to my face.
“Positive.”
“How do you figure?”
He paused and put his hands on his hips staring me down. “You don’t need a reason. It is because I say it is. That’s all that matters.”
I bit my lip, unable to hide my smile.
“What?” he asked.
“You just sounded like my parents.”
He hung his head in defeat and gave a sigh. “You’ve completely deflated my ego.”
“Well it’s a good thing I happen to enjoy spending time with the ego-less then, isn’t it?” I linked my arm through his and started dragging him toward the lobby door. “Come on. We’re going to be late for class.”

Friday Fever: Crush by Lacey Weatherford

Friday Fever is a weekly event hosted here at Girls *Heart* Books. Every Friday, we will showcase one of our favorite steamy and/or romantic scenes from the YA & New Adult universe. You know the ones we're talking about; those that get your pulse thumping and your temperature rising. Enjoy.

This week we are showcasing Crush by Lacey Weatherford. This book was sooooo good and there were a few steamy scenes, this was one of my favorites, though. I hope you guys like it as much as I did.

I closed my eyes for a second. “Forgive me,” I whispered when I looked at her again. I grabbed her cheeks and pressed my lips to hers.
Sparks exploded at the simple contact between us, and I found myself sliding my hands down to her shoulders so I could pull her closer. I wrapped both of my arms around her back and pressed against her, walking slowly forward until she was pinned against the door.
Her fingers move upward, locking around behind my neck. She opened her mouth, allowing me access and I happily invaded, licking and tasting what she offered. It was heaven.
She made a soft moaning sound in the back of her throat—or maybe it was me—I wasn’t sure anymore as her hands made their way up into my hair, digging in as she kept me pulled tightly to her.
My palms moved lower, cupping her bottom and lifting so she could wrap her legs around me. She did so as if she’d done it a thousand times before, and I moved to trail kisses across her face and down her neck.
She tossed her head back, arching. “Finally,” she breathed out as her hands traveled over me.

Whoa nelly! Love it! The heat between these two is electric! Crush comes out tomorrow, so be sure to BUY it asap!

"Crush" by Lacey Weatherford: Review

Cami Wimberley has a plan, and that plan includes no room for boys—especially the big time party animal, Hunter Wilder, no matter how handsome and charismatic he is. She’s beautiful, a senior, extremely talented, gets good grades, and is working her way toward her dream college to be a musical theater major. Everything is perfect.
Hunter Wilder does not want a girlfriend—that would complicate his life way too much right now. He especially doesn’t want this girl, Miss-Goody-Two-Shoes, so how come he can’t keep his eyes off her? He tries to keep her at arms length, but fate seems to keep pushing them together. Before long, it’s obvious to everyone they’re crushing on each other.

As sparks begin to fly, Hunter finds himself sinking deeper and deeper into hot water. Soon he’s scrambling to keep Cami from discovering his dark secret—one that can destroy their entire relationship.

I have been hearing about this book on facebook for a while now and when Lacey Weatherford asked if I'd like to read and review it, I immediately said YES. I'm so glad I did. For one thing, hello beautiful boy on the cover! Talk about cover love, he's too good looking to pass up reading about him, in my opinion. Add the synopsis about these seeming opposites and their attraction and Ms. Weatherford had me intrigued.

I was completely hooked on this book from the very beginning. Weatherford's characters are enchantingly real, immensely likable and they lure you in and capture your heart.  Cami is a strong heroine and I really admired her for her unflinching morals and compassion. She cares enough about herself to stick to her principles and not be someone's doormat but she's never cruel or judgmental.  Then we have Hunter. He is so much more than swoon-worthy, I'm not sure I can find a word strong enough to describe him. He is gorgeous, yes, of course-but he is so much more, too. He's sweet, smart and just a tad bit dangerous-the kind of guy the "good" girls love to daydream about but don't dare go near. I adore him.

I love a good romantic novel laced with suspense and danger and Crush is all that and more.  Perfectly paced and plotted, there was no lull in the action. I had to force myself to put the book down when it was way past my bedtime.  Weatherford has crafted what I consider to be the perfect book and I am looking forward to many re-reads in the future.

My Rating:

Lacey Weatherford was born in Ft. Meade Maryland while her father was serving in the military. She has been a life long resident of Arizona, spending most of her time growing up in the small rural town of Clay Springs.

It was while she was attending the small country school in Clay Springs, that she read her first "big" book at the age of eight. It was a Nancy Drew novel and Lacey was instantly hooked. She read every book that she could find in the series and decided that she wanted to write stories too.

Lacey spent a lot of time at the library from that time forward, even volunteering in her later teen years and early twenties. She would don a crazy clown outfit for the Friends of the Library fundraisers in an effort to help get the new town library built.

When she and her husband moved away from the area, Lacey took the opportunity to take some creative writing classes at the local college to help further along her interests. Several years later, they were blessed with the opportunity to move back to Clay Springs with their family. The town had finally succeeded in building their library and Lacey had the opportunity to be President of the Friends of the Library for a very short time, before relocating.

Lacey and her family still live in the White Mountains of Arizona, where she continues to write young adult novels that have a fantasy/fairytale or paranormal bent to them, as well as being sure to include a great romantic storyline!
