Author Appreciation Day 2: To the Lovely Lauren DeStefano

Day 2, I am dedicating this post to the lovely Lauren DeStefano.

I remember when I first found her novel, Wither, at my local Barnes & Nobel. The cover caught my eye instantly, the dark blue background, the gold accents, the caged bird, and the lines creating focal points. I know authors don't usually have anything to do with the covers, but I simply had to point out how magnificent it is.

Anyhow. Since I had time to burn, I decided to flip through and see what this story was about. I was immediately interested. I am a deep fan of the brutal stories, and this is far from light. Which I am thankful for. As much as I love the fluffy, happy little stories, drama and angst always seem to grip me tighter, and keep me interested.

I have a deep passion for the harshly honest, and I have to say Lauren can definitely attack that part of my mind. Rhine is definitely a character I like, and I'm impressed to find a character I have not wanted to strangle as of yet (yes, this is rare). I cry almost every time I'd read a portion with Rose in it, and I am deeply interested in Rowan. Also, even though I do not like love triangles (they are insanely overused) this one actually has me stuck in the middle. I honestly don't know what to ship (this is also very rare, I know what I ship).

"Wither" has definitely made it to my Favorite Books shelf, and I cannot wait to get my hands on "Fever" (available now!)

Lauren's "The Chemical Garden" Trilogy will definitely not be the last we see of Miss DeStefano, and I cannot wait to see more! Very glad I found this novel.
