Tammy's Two Cents/Author Appreciation Day 10: Jennifer Malone Wright

AUTHOR APPRECIATION DAY 10 * JENNIFER MALONE WRIGHT
THE BIRTH OF JAIDEN * INTERVIEW, REVIEW AND CONTEST

Birth of Jaiden on Amazon

Long ago, a prophecy was foreseen. A child would be born, a child who held the power to destroy the world. Now, it is up to Alexander Lucas, a one-hundred-year-old vampire, to keep the baby girl safe from his arch enemy Malcolm. In order to save her, Alexander must raise the child as his own. Will he be able to resist his vampire tendencies to care for a human baby? With the help of the wisest of the supernatural, an organization called The Great Council, Alexander must face many battles to ensure the safety of this very special child.
Where to begin; I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I had to go back and re-read the last several chapters as I blew through them in an effort to see how it ended, what becomes of Jaiden??
This is not your typical vampire story. It is full of new twists, new takes on supernatural beings and an interesting storyline. Vampires, angels, dark angels, witches, warlocks, slayers and let's not forget, baby Jaiden! Alex an oh so very old vampire, with a conscience and a guardian angel, stumbles upon a baby in a dumpster. His already not so normal world is turned upside down. You see Alex prays nightly, prays to god to give him purpose, is Jaiden his purpose?
The story starts out a bit slow as you get to know the characters but, once it gets going hang  on cause it’s gonna be a bumpy ride! There’s a little bit of everything in this book… friendship, trust, betrayal, the struggle between right and wrong and (oh yes) LOVE! Jennifer only hints toward the relationship between Alex and Isabella (the nanny/witch) so I cannot wait for the continuation in this series… I’m so excited to watch Alex and Isabella grow and what challenges they will face protecting and nurturing Jaiden.
Enough about me though; the lovely Jennifer Wright Malone has answered some questions for us… she has also agreed to give away 2 ebook copies of The birth of Jaiden! Here is my interview with Jennifer; contest details to follow!
Jennifer Malone Wright

*Tell me a bit about yourself. I am a mother of five kids, ages 15 down to 1 year. I've been married for 11 years and have spent that long as a military wife as well. I am the author of The Birth of Jaiden and The Vampire Hunter's Daughter short story series. I like coffee, hate housework, love reading, writing, photography, and doing stuff outside. Oh, and I'm beginning to really detest the snow.

*Where were you born and where do you call home?I was born in Napa, California. I lived there for about 13 years, then moved to Idaho, which I now call home. We have moved around a lot because of the military, but we are back in Idaho now.
*What was your inspiration for The Birth of Jaiden? It all began with the image of a vampire finding a baby in a dumpster. From there it evolved into what it is now.

*What are some of the struggles you've experienced while getting your books out to the masses?I really struggled with finding a voice in the public eye. I didn't want anyone to think I was pushy or overbearing. It is really hard to learn to self promote your own work. Luckily, I already had a bit of a following for my freelance articles and that really helped. Now, I have found a bit of a place for me in this literary world, I'm more comfortable with what I'm doing and how other people react to it, so it's easier now.

*What are you plans for the series? Are you a "It will be a trilogy, period" author, or, "I will write about the characters until I think their story is told" author?lol, I will write about the characters until I think their story is told. The intended for the Jaiden series is a trilogy though... but who knows.

*Whom in your life would you say has influenced you the most?I would have to say, from real life, my friend Rose has been my biggest influence. Mostly because she motivates me, she believes in me, but doesn't hold back with criticism. I like people who are honest.
*What has been the most interesting comment (or review) about your book?Oh... I don't know. There are a lot of reviews out there. My favorite recently was a review entitled "The Birth of Genius!" lol it was a great review too!

*What do you do when your not writing?Take care of my kids, clean house, homeschool my daughter, take pictures, crochet, read. I don't get a lot of spare time. lol

*Tell us your latest news.I will soon be releasing my newest title. "Beyond The Writing, A Guide to Self Publishing and Marketing." And The Vampire Hunter's Daughter part five just went to the editor, so hopefully within the month we will have that one out too. You can get part one free on Amazon, B&N, and other places.

*Please, do tell why we should read your novel.Because it's awesome! Lol, no seriously, if you love vampires, witches, warlocks, angels, dark angels, vampire slayers all mixed in with a human baby, then you will like this book.
*And, finally..... when is the release date for the sequel? There is no release date yet. It's about half done. I've been tied up with my other projects and have had little time to work on it.

  2. Sounds like a great book. Very intriguing. I sometimes have to go back and reread the ends of books, too- because I plow through them to find out how everything ends. :) I also enjoyed reading about the author. I can relate to how she feels trying to get her name out there without being pushy.

  5. Tammy, your review of this book has made me very interested in it!
My favorite vampire? There are so many that it's hard to choose. That being said I think that at this moment I'll choose Wrath from The Black Dagger Brotherhood. Or, shoot, maybe Eric from True Blood. I can't choose! Can I say that I haven't met a vampire I didn't love?
Jennifer, good luck with your books!

Either Eric from The Southern Vampire Series or Vishious/John Matthew/Butch (or really any of the Brothers from Black Dagger Brotherhood) lol.
