"Waiting on" Wednesday: Unremembered by Jessica Brody

"Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly even hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases we're super excited about. This week, my pick is:

Unremembered
Jessica Brody
Expected Publication: March 5th, 2013, by Farrar, Straus, & Giroux (BYR)

The only thing worse than forgetting her past... is remembering it.

When Freedom Airlines flight 121 went down over the Pacific Ocean, no one ever expected to find survivors. Which is why the sixteen-year-old girl discovered floating among the wreckage--alive--is making headlines across the globe.

Even more strange is that her body is miraculously unharmed and she has no memories of boarding the plane. She has no memories of her life before the crash. She had no memories period. No one knows how she survived. No one knows why she wasn't on the passenger manifest. And no one can explain why her DNA and fingerprints can't be found in a single database in the world.

Crippled by a world she doesn't know, plagues by abilities she doesn't understand, and haunted by a looming threat she can't remember, Seraphina struggles to piece together her forgotten past and discover who she really is. But with every clue only comes more questions. And she's running out of time to answer them.

Her only hope is a strangely alluring boy who claims to know her before the crash. Who claims they were in love. But can she really trust him? And will he be able to protect her from the people who have been making her forget?

From popular young adult author, Jessica Brody comes a mesmerizing and suspenseful new series, set in a world where science knows no boundaries, memories are manipulated, and true love can never be forgotten.

I read "The Karma Club" by Jessica Brody in the first week it came out, and I LOVED every minute of it. I haven't gotten to her other books yet, because RL insists on getting in my way, but I have read previews and such, and I can't wait to read them all. Unremembered sounds interesting and exciting, and I am, indeed, interested. And excited.

This is my "Waiting on", what's yours?

Guardian Angels by Andrew P Weston Blog Tour: Excerpt

Guardian Angels
By Andrew P Weston
Book# 1
Publication Date: August 31, 2012

In a series of terrifying events, otherworldly beings intervene to save innocent lives. The world community reacts with relief as they realize that angels may in fact exist, and they are diligently protecting us.

But there are those who would seek to stop what they feel is a threat against their livelihoods. How far will some go to battle the Guardians? Is the fairy tale over before it even begins?

Guardian Angels is a powerful and compelling story about the catalyst that has the power to unite society in the hope for a better future. The spark of hope is fragile—can it last?

And now an excerpt from Guardian Angels

Five-year old Becky Selleck, a slightly built mousey-haired girl with large blue eyes, whose whole world had changed so drastically the day before, stared vacantly at the dolls and selection of books and comics in front of her. The tuna pizza and half-drunk soda lay discarded on the table along with the toys and various other items that had been provided to keep her entertained. Staring off into space, Becky replayed over and over again in her mind the moment her life had changed.

She had been coloring the beach scene they had been asked to draw by her teacher, Mrs. Cooper, when suddenly her mother’s mind shout flooded her senses, blotting everything out.

Becky? PAIN! Becky, darling, is that you? Aaaaaagh! PAIN! Becky?

Frozen in fright at the shared pain she felt, Becky saw an overcast sky, strangely red, and then her perspective seemed to change. She found herself looking across the ground as if she were lying down, before looking back up at the red sky.

“Mommy?” she replied, then mentally. Mommy, what’s happening? Her alarm began to mount.

More quietly now, her mother’s mind spoke. Oh, my darling. I’m so sorry, I don’t think I’ll be able to come and get you.

With rising panic, Becky’s mind responded. What do you mean, Mommy? Why can’t I see you? Why are you hurting?

Her mother suddenly gained strength for a moment. Becky. Listen. Please, I don’t have much time. I’ve been hurt. PAIN! Remember what I said you must do if I ever had to go away? Do you remember? TELL ME!

I remember, Mommy, but why are you going? Don’t leave me! Becky replied mentally and then out loud for the class to hear, “No mommy! What’s happening?”

Her mother began fading rapidly, but her urgency was tangible. I love you so much, my darling. My big strong girl . . . I’ve been hurt really bad.

“NO, MOMMY!” Becky screamed.

Becky, I love you, but you must do what I said . . . .

“NO, NO!” Becky screamed in sheer terror as she felt her mother’s mind begin to slip from her grasp, “NO. MOMMY, DON’T, MOMMY, NOOOOO!”

She reached out with all her strength, refusing to sever the bond between them, feeling power surge through her mind and body. The world began to darken and her mother’s personality turned translucent and seemed to slip away from her perception.

Becky heard one last faint whisper. Don’t forget, my darling. I love you. Do what I said to stay safe and you’ll know who you can trust when you . . . .

And she was gone.

A huge black void filled Becky’s mind as she suddenly realized she would never feel and hear her mother’s mind again, never hear her voice, and never feel the warmth of her mother’s arms around her.

The world shifted again, and Becky became aware of her classroom once more. She could hear the murmurs of her classmates and she saw the shock on their faces. Mrs. Cooper walked slowly toward her, arms held out in invitation. “Don’t worry, Becky, we’re calling your mommy to come and get you.”

Looking slowly around the classroom, Becky saw all the tables and chairs had been turned over, as if someone had been throwing them around. All the shelves were tipped over, too, and Mrs. Cooper was still edging forward. “Don’t worry, darling, your mommy will be here soon.”

Looking solemnly at her, tears filling her eyes, Becky replied, “Mommy won’t be coming, she’s gone.”

And with that, the floodgates opened, and the devastated child collapsed to the floor in floods of inconsolable tears.
***
November 28th –11:45 p.m.—Langley, Virginia.

Maggie had been very nice to her, Becky recalled as she finally drifted off to sleep, although the woman told many lies.

Becky could see that she was tired, but even so, Maggie had stayed with her, read her stories, given her cuddles, and tried to make her as happy as she could be.

Mommy had always told her how important it was to be polite, and so Becky had done her best to listen, and smile when she could, to show she was grateful.

But Maggie kept telling her that everyone there was her friend, and that they were all going to look after her, because she was special. And that was what frightened her the most, because they were trying to get her to break her promise to mommy.

Becky knew she was special. She was like her mommy in that way. They could speak to each other’s minds when they were in different rooms, or when Becky was sleeping over at her friend Megan’s house, or even at school. They used to play games when they were with other people, to see how much they could still speak to each other and not get distracted. It was hard at first, because people didn’t realize they were thinking out loud sometimes with their minds, and they would think about the weirdest things. Becky soon learned to cut out the distractions, and think and talk to two people at once, and mommy was very pleased how grown up she was at doing that without anyone knowing.

Mommy had told her it was something only the very best, only the most special people could do. Something only a real friend could do, and, because they were “different”, she had to be careful because people would be frightened of them, even her best friend, Megan.

Mommy had always been right when it came to their secret. When the “special people” had started to save others, many of her friends at school said lots of nice things about them. They were good, they were kind, and they used their special powers to help people.

All her classmates had begun playing Angel games at recess, rescuing each other from monsters and fires and things. It was good fun.

But Becky soon learned that what people said, and what some of them thought, were very different, especially the grownups.

Some grownups had come to the school pretending to be nice, to play special games and quizzes. But they were really there to find people like her, and take them away and make them do things she didn’t understand. Some were even secretly scared of who they might find, and had nasty thoughts about what they would like to do to “special people.” And there were a lot who thought like that.

Mommy had told her to be very careful while they were there, and had helped her get lots of wrong answers to their quizzes like everyone else, even though they were easy.

The grownups were watching them very closely, staring at them like cats waiting for a bird in the tree. If it wasn’t for mommy, Becky might have made a mistake and she was sure they would have pounced on her. It had been very scary.

She had to be extra careful that week, because she had recently discovered she could move things without touching them. It was a delightful discovery, although it didn’t always work when she wanted, and mommy said it was because it was new, like riding a bike. Mommy said that once she had practiced, she would be able to do it all the time whenever she wanted. But until then, she had to be careful, because when she got upset, things kept moving without her wanting them to, like yesterday at school.

That thought brought it all back to her again, and the tears returned, as she cried herself gently to an exhausted sleep.

But Becky was a strong little girl.

She had promised her mommy she would stay safe, and she would do just that. All she had to do now was keep waiting for someone to come and find her, to tell her everything would be alright, someone who would take her away from those who wanted to hurt her and use her because she was different. Someone she could trust.

When the right person came, she would know who they were.

Event: Auntie Heather's Second Chance Tour at The Tattered Cover

Heather Brewer's "The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod" have been on my To-Read list for God only knows how long. So, when I found out she would be at The Tattered Cover this month, I was stoked. I could finally have her books on my shelf, AND they would be signed! Eep!

It was snowing, and ice had coated the ground by the time it was time to go. I had to argue with my dad a little bit to convince him I needed to go to this signing, and eventually, thankfully, got my way.

However, very few people got there way. I got a front row seat, and barely half of the few chairs out were full. Heather didn't seem to mind this at all, though. She actually seemed thrilled by the smaller crowd. We could all be "cozy".

Heather signing books
Instead of doing a major presentation where she explained her books and whatnot, Heather skipped straight to the questions, with this,

"And if nobody has a question, I'm going to start asking you all questions, and that will be weird."

The atmosphere was comfortable-- like chatting with someone you've known your whole life rather than just a few minutes, or through books. The discussions ranged from bullying to cookies and made everything seem calm.

Now, you all have to realize, I am inept when it comes to social skills. Unless the topic is, "Why would you feed that to your dog?" I am not the wittiest person. Obviously I can talk about books for years, but the authors? I clam up a little, making myself look moronic. So when it's time for questions, I usually sit there silently and listen to everyone else speak. So, about mid-questionaire, when Heather looked at me and went, "What about you, you haven't asked a question yet." my brain shut off... Very fun.

Heather signing books

To add salt to the wound of my idiocy, the only question I could come with is as follows;

"I'll just use the 'random' blog question. What's your favorite desert?"

"Ooh, that's hard..."

So at least I made her think. Ha.

"It used to be ice cream... But then I lost 132 pounds and now it is just not appealing anymore. Which is weird, because I love sweet stuff-- Cookies, cake.. Just not ice cream." ~Heather

"See, I am not the biggest cookie hound. I love my ice cream." ~Me

"Oh, I love cookies." ~Heather

She told us that when she's on tour, she will call down to the lobby, and tell them, "You know, I'm an author... And I'm on tour, and I'm feeling really homesick, and I really just need some warm cookies and a cold glass of milk...", "And even if they don't have it on their menu, they're always like, 'I will see what I can do for you.'...And they ALWAYS come through, it's awesome!"And then she will sit back in her 'ratty old slippers' with her cookies and milk and watch TV and everything is okay.

Heather signing books
She gave tips on how to get published, answered my second question (after my brain turned on again and I could think) about if she's more prone to write for males or females, told us "The Legacy of Tril: Soulbound" was a personal challenge to make women the strong role, butting heads with a certain popular book... *cough* Sparkles the Vampire *cough* Aherm...

"When everyone turns around, I'm just a 12-year-old boy, that's all it is." ~Heather

Me and Heather Brewer!
The signing has got to be one of the better ones I've been to. So much fun!

We love you, Auntie Heather! I am officially a loyal minion.. :3

Indie Authors Month: 'Touching Smoke' by Airicka Phoenix: Review & Author Interview

Secrets...

Fallon has one. She doesn’t know it, but it will kill her... if she’s caught.

Love...

Isaiah. Her soul mate. Made especially for her. Created especially for her. Designed to be everything she would ever need. But loving him will destroy her.

Betrayal...

Willing to die for her, kill for her, Isaiah must first save her from the monster chasing them — the man that had created them to annihilate the world.

What would you risk for love?

Touching Smoke is the first book in the Touch series by Airicka Phoenix. I read this book as part of Indie Author Month hosted by the lovely Jo-Anne from Jo-Anne's Reviews. As soon as I read the synopsis, I was intrigued.

Touching Smoke is chock full of twists, action and suspense with some romantic tension thrown in there for good measure, as well.  I can honestly say I had NO earthly idea what would happen next.  I enjoyed the story very much, even though the characters did remind me of others in the ya paranormal genre.

I  would recommend this book to anyone who loves romantic suspense.

My Rating:

And now here is our interview with Airicka Phoenix:

*Hi Airicka! Thanks so much for taking the time to chat with us!
It is completely my pleasure. Thank you so much for having me!
* Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m the mother of four. I always say that first because that’s the one and only important thing in my life. My writing and reading come a close second. I am the author of the Touch Series. Touching Smoke is already out and Touching Eternity will be out in Dec. I’m an avid writer/reader and friend maker. I love talking with people, getting to know them. I think it’s one of the upsides to social networking. I love chocolate. Huge fan. I also create covers, banners and anything that can be made via Photoshop. I’m kind of an addict and do this on the side.
*Did you always want to be an author?
No! I wanted to be an archaeologist, but I learned quickly I hated dead things and spiders.
*Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
The worst crime you could ever committee against yourself is giving up.
*Do you ever get stuck while writing? If so, what do you do to push through it?
I should knock on wood, but I don’t get stuck. The story is so deeply embedded into my brain that I have to actually hurry to get it all out so I don’t forget.

*If you could spend the day with any literary character, who would you choose and what would you like to do with them?
I think I would love a day with Garrison, the villain in The Touch Series. I know I wrote him and know absolutely everything about him, but I think if I could just meet him face-to-face I can really get into his head. He’s such a complex character with so many layers. I would love to have an actual conversation with him.
*Lana and I both have an obsession with really good cheesecake; is there a dessert you can’t turn down?
Pineapple cheesecake. It is food from the Gods. It’s sugarless and low fat and… omg. Ugh. I’m drooling now. Thanks. LOL.
*If you could only recommend one book to us, which one would you choose?
How long do you have?! And only one is really impossible. *4hrs later…* It would be a tossup between The Hunger Games and Touching Smoke (is that wrong? Lol).
*Can you tell us what comes next for you?
I’ll be releasing a new series in Feb/March 2013. It will be book 1 of The Hunter Series. Readers can expect a lot of danger, action and steamy romance. My Hunter Series is intense, it’s Buffy meets Anita Blake. It’s very butt-kicking, fun and fast paced.
Thank you guys so much for having me. I had so much fun answering your questions and visiting your blog. I hope to see you guys again soon! <3

And now a sneak peak at Airicka Phoenix's next book, the prequel to Touching Smoke

What would you choose?
She had everything but freedom.
He had nothing but his loyalty, his wits and his training.
She was a prisoner, a disease, not fit for the world, and she didn't know why. But she did know she wasn't allowed to die, she wasn't allowed to live and she wasn’t sane.
He was a soldier, a protector, but his foundation will be tested when he must destroy the only light in his dark world.
Thrown together, prisoner and keeper, their rebellion will splinter through time, changing the course of history and the fate of the world. Their love will challenge their greatest enemy and immortalize them forever.
Loyalty. Freedom. Love.
What would you risk?
"Let me die."
Pain darkened his eyes. "Never."
Airicka Phoenix is the author of TOUCHING SMOKE (Touch Book #1), TOUCHING ETERNITY (Touch 1.5), TORRID, a short story as part of the Whispered Beginnings: A Clever Fiction Anthology and WANTING & INTENTIONS, two stories as part of the Midnight Surrender Anthology. When she's not hammering away at the keyboard, she can be found banishing pirates or crawling through the attic looking for lost treasure with her kids. She loves baking, gardening and reading. She also likes to travel and take pictures of everything she comes across. When asked, Airicka describes herself as a sarcastic basket case that has an unhealthy addiction to chocolate, old movies and really bad jokes. She loves to laugh, make friends and write. If she could have one wish granted, it would be to spend one day as a fly-on-the-wall inside Stephen King's mind. If she could have two wishes granted, she would ask for a castle dedicated entirely to her overwhelming collection of books.

For more about Airicka, also on how to win giveaways, read author interviews and reviews, visit her website.

You can add Airicka on any/all of her social networks. Making new friends is the highlight of her day!

Forbidden Forest by Tenaya Jayne Promo Blitz

Born in shame. Cast from society. Shape Shifter/Elf hybrid, Forest must fight for any respect she can get. Targeted in her youth by a vampire noble who placed an illegal slave mark on her, she is forced to obey him, no matter what.

Slipping the grip of her master and abandoning the prejudice of Regia, her native world, Forest takes a job on Earth, guarding the portal, using her skills as a warrior to enforce Regia's laws. Now, called home for a black ops mission, Forest must put aside her own prejudice to transport the vampire prince, Syrus, through enemy territory in a time of war.

Prince Syrus, mage and master of the Blood Kata, wants Forest more than he's ever wanted anything. In spite of their mutual mistrust, their attraction cannot be denied. Through the danger of their mission, and the secrets they both keep, it doesn't matter what they feel. Forest is forbidden.

And now an excerpt from Forbidden Forest:

Forest pressed her back against the cool concrete wall, wanting to remain aloof from the entity of the crowd. She chose her position in the shadows, out of the paths of the roving, multi-colored spotlights. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the feeling of the undulating human pheromones flying around on the air. At the beginning of every shift, she allowed herself a few minutes of this alien/human experience, though she didn't fully comprehend the combination of dancing, drinking, and ear-breaking sound waves. They loved it, however, and never seemed to deviate from the recipe.

These were the people she was sworn to protect. She had developed a light affection for the human race and considered them a benign, if not slightly silly, bunch of creatures. Her religious passion for her job was rooted in hatred of that which harmed the humans, not a superhero tendency to protect the weak.

Forest opened her eyes and focused all her senses to sniff out the illegal suckers that tried to sneak through the portal. She was in the zone tonight, and not for the first time did she feel that hers was the best job in existence. It was a shame she couldn’t legally kill suckers in her native world.

Over the next two hours, Forest didn’t move from the wall. She monitored the light traffic through the portal: two shifters and one elf, each of which nodded to her respectfully as they passed. Yawn. The shifters left the club to enjoy the delights of Austin’s nightlife elsewhere.

The elf would have been breaking Regia’s law had he left the club, but he dutifully seated himself at the bar and ordered a fuzzy navel. He wore a plaid, porkpie hat, pulled down over the tops of his pointed ears. Forest didn’t know him personally, but she had seen him in here before. The bartender surveyed him with narrowed eyes as the elf nervously tugged his hat down further and ordered a few more girly cocktails.

Intent on making sure that not one sucker was able to sneak past her, Forest was blindsided by the drunk bubba who had been trying to catch her eye for the last twenty minutes. He had finally decided to stagger over to hit on her.

“Hey babe, you’re too beautiful to look so lonely. How’s ‘bout I buy you a drink?”

“How’s ‘bout I call you a cab instead?” Forest mimicked his drawl.

“Only if you share it with me, Darlin.” He leaned in closer, and Forest’s throat began to sting from the noxious fume of booze mixed with his natural musk.

“While I appreciate the offer, Jethro, It seems only right to inform you that I’m not actually attractive at all. If you leaned in a little closer, you’d see that you’ve fallen victim to the effect of beer goggles. A hag like me can’t take advantage of a stud like you.”

As he leaned in, Forest instantly enlarged her nose, pockmarked her skin, evaporated her front teeth, and added a large black mole with a long hair sprouting from it for good measure.

“You’re no hag, baby! You’re the sexiest little thing in…I…uh… ” He stumbled backward. “Good grief! Sorry, sorry…” he stammered, retreating. “I’ve gotta quit drinking,” he mumbled as he turned away.

Forest chuckled to herself once he absorbed back into the crowd. Being a shape shifter sometimes had unusual perks.

Hello. My name's Tenaya and I'm an addict. I mean author. When I was growing up, writing was just something I played at from time to time. I knew I wanted to be a writer, but I was one of those people who could never finish anything. When my eldest son was diagnosed with Autism, I began to write seriously. Writing became a necessity for me in the midst of my heartbreak. It was either that or take up drinking. I 'm thankful I chose writing as my escape because I discovered it truly is my thing. I want to be swept away when I read. That's what I want my books to do for you.The main goal of my writing is to entertain you. I want to help you escape everyday life for a little while. I hope you enjoy my stories as much as I enjoy sharing them with you!

I have a wonderful husband and two beautiful sons. I'm an advocate for Autism awareness, and women trapped in abusive relationships. I try to always look on the bright side and help others do so too. I've lived many places but I currently reside in Missouri. I love reading, indie and foreign films, gardening, and moody music.

Treasured Thursdays: Most Treasured Anthologies

Treasured Thursday is a weekly event created by Touya over at The Reader's Garden that is all about our most treasured. We're hosting it here now, for those of you who are interested in joining me. This week our topic is our most treasured anthologies.

Anthologies are one of my favorite types of books-- With so many different stories by so many different authors, it's near impossible I won't find at least one style of writing I don't like. I have several on my shelf, and on my Kindle, and I have not grown bored.

That being said, choosing a "favorite" or "most treasured" may sound like it would be difficult for me. But in all honesty, this is probably the easiest Treasured Thursdays I could ever come up with.

This book, Dear Bully, has got to be one of the most heart-wrenching and powerful books I have EVER read. 70 authors, 70 stories, straight from the heart of a topic I am very passionate about-- bullying. Victims, perpetrators, observers... You get their story.

I can't even tell you how many times I cried during this book. I can't express how my respect for these seventy people just grew with words, because I simply don't have them. This book really hit home at some times, and I probably won't ever find a book--anthology or no--that I treasure more.

This is my most treasured, what's yours?

"Waiting on" Wednesday: Mind Games by Kiersten White

"Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly even hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases we're super excited about. This week, my pick is:

Mind Games
Kiersten White
Expected Publication: February 19th, 2013, by HarperTeen

Fia was born with flawless instincts. Her first impulse, her gut feeling, is always exactly right. Her sister, Annie, is blind to the world around her--except when her mind is gripped by strange visions of the future.

Trapped in a school that uses girls with extraordinary powers as tools for corporate espionage, Annie and Fia are forced to choose over and over between using their abilities in twisted, unthinkable ways... or risking each other's lives by refusing to obey.

In a stunning departure from her New York Times bestselling Paranormalcy trilogy, Kiersten White delivers a slick, edgy, heartstoppingly intense psychological thriller about two sisters determined to protect each other--no matter the cost. (Goodreads)

I'm currently reading Kiersten's "Paranormalcy" and it is one of the funniest things I've read in a while. I love her writing style and characters and I'm so happy she's continuing to write! Can't wait to dig into this!

That's my "Waiting on", what's yours?

'Entangled' Paranormal Anthology: Review

Ghosts, vampires, demons, and more! Entangled includes ten suspense-filled paranormal short stories from authors Cynthia Eden, Jennifer Estep, Edie Ramer, Lori Brighton, Michelle Diener, Misty Evans, Nancy Haddock, Liz Kreger, Dale Mayer, and Michelle Miles, plus a Seven Deadly Sins novella by Allison Brennan.
Stacia Kane contributed the foreword. Formatting and cover art were also donated to the project by Lori Devoti and Laura Morrigan.
All proceeds go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

When I was approached about reviewing this book by Sizzling PR I said yes immediately because I love short stories and anthologies. Especially those with both paranormal and romance properties. Entangled was a delightful quick read and I really enjoyed it.

Each story was just long enough to grab my attention and hold on to it until the end. I now have an even longer list of authors whose works I'd like to look into.  I thoroughly enjoyed this anthology and it's all for a wonderful cause, so please check it out.

Confessions of an Angry Girl by Louise Rozett: Review

Rose Zarelli, self-proclaimed word geek and angry girl, has some confessions to make
…1. I'm livid all the time. Why? My dad died. My mom barely talks. My brother abandoned us. I think I'm allowed to be irate, don't you?
2. I make people furious regularly. Want an example? I kissed Jamie Forta, a badass guy who might be dating a cheerleader. She is now enraged and out for blood. Mine.
3. High school might as well be Mars. My best friend has been replaced by an alien, and I see red all the time. (Mars is red and "seeing red" means being angry—get it?)
Here are some other vocab words that describe my life: Inadequate. Insufferable. Intolerable.
(Don't know what they mean? Look them up yourself.)
(Sorry. That was rude.)

I found this book on NetGalley and as soon as I read the synopsis, I knew I'd love it. I was very excited when I was approved to read it.  Confessions of an Angry Girl is Louise Rozett's debut YA novel and it is fantastic. I read this book in a day, I loved every second of it and simply couldn't put it down.

The story follows Rose, the main character, and is told from her point of view.  Rose has recently lost her father, her mother has basically checked out, her brother is away at college and she's starting high school with all the trauma that can include. Honestly, I wonder how in the world Rose deals with all of it.

I love Rose's character. She may feel awkward, young and inexperienced in high school but she is hell bent on being herself and no one else. She's strong and tries very hard to always be the best friend she can be even when it feels that friend is drifting further away from her every day.

I loved this book, it's emotional and intense and had me completely drawn in from the very beginning. I yelled out loud at the ending and had to get online to find out when the sequel would be released.  Rose's story will make you laugh and break your heart all at the same time and I will be recommending this book to all the teens I know.

Friday Fever: Crush by Lacey Weatherford

Friday Fever is a weekly event hosted here at Girls *Heart* Books. Every Friday, we will showcase one of our favorite steamy and/or romantic scenes from the YA & New Adult universe. You know the ones we're talking about; those that get your pulse thumping and your temperature rising. Enjoy.

This week we are showcasing Crush by Lacey Weatherford. This book was sooooo good and there were a few steamy scenes, this was one of my favorites, though. I hope you guys like it as much as I did.

I closed my eyes for a second. “Forgive me,” I whispered when I looked at her again. I grabbed her cheeks and pressed my lips to hers.
Sparks exploded at the simple contact between us, and I found myself sliding my hands down to her shoulders so I could pull her closer. I wrapped both of my arms around her back and pressed against her, walking slowly forward until she was pinned against the door.
Her fingers move upward, locking around behind my neck. She opened her mouth, allowing me access and I happily invaded, licking and tasting what she offered. It was heaven.
She made a soft moaning sound in the back of her throat—or maybe it was me—I wasn’t sure anymore as her hands made their way up into my hair, digging in as she kept me pulled tightly to her.
My palms moved lower, cupping her bottom and lifting so she could wrap her legs around me. She did so as if she’d done it a thousand times before, and I moved to trail kisses across her face and down her neck.
She tossed her head back, arching. “Finally,” she breathed out as her hands traveled over me.
