Patch's Guardian Angel Tour

Any of you who read this blog regularly know of Lana's & my undying love for Patch from Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush Hush series.  Well, the lovely Danielle of Consuming Worlds has asked us to share what exactly we love about him with you all today. Why, you ask? Well, because she is Patch's advocate in the 2013 YA Sisterhood Crush Tourney!!  And by the way, he's facing off again on June 26th so be sure to vote for Patch!!!

First, I have to share one of my favorite Patch & Nora scenes from the series-

“If you can't feel, why did you kiss me?"
Patch traced a finger along my collarbone, then headed south stopping at my heart. I felt it pounding through my skin. "Because I feel it here, in my heart," he said quietly.”

Becca Fitzpatrick, Hush, Hush

Seriously, people-what is there NOT to love about this hunk of not quite angelic hotness? He's sexy, he's snarky and super protective of his girl. I feel a swoon coming on here...

ahem! Anyway, so sorry! Back to business- need more coaxing??

“You're mine, Angel," he murmured, brushing the words across my jawbone as I arched my neck higher, inviting him to kiss everywhere. "You have me forever.”
Becca Fitzpatrick, Crescendo

I am now a puddle of drool in front of my laptop..must go mop up-but I leave you with this-

“Patch stood over me, and a drop of rain slid from his hair, landing like ice on my collarbone. I felt it slide along my skin, disappearing beneath the neckline of my shirt. His eyes followed the raindrop, and I began to quiver on the inside.”
Becca Fitzpatrick, Crescendo

Seventeen-year-old Bianca Frost wants none of it, dreaming instead of a career in art or photography or…well, anything except working in the family’s museum. She knows the items in the glass display cases are fakes because, of course, magic doesn’t really exist.

Release Day Blitz: Vulture by Rhiannon Paille- Excerpt & Giveaway

Vulture
The Ferryman and the Flame #3
By Rhiannon Paille
Publication date: June 18th 2013
Genre: YA Fantasy

How far would you go to betray everything you've ever known?

Kaliel didn't think second chances came with this much turmoil. Exiled from her home, surrounded by strangers and in love with a boy she barely recognizes, she can't take it. She has her best friend, a new mentor, and a chance to win the war against the Valtanyana, but it's all wrong. Desperate to salvage some semblance of her former life, she makes a deal that shatters everything.

And don't forget to check out the first two books in The Ferryman & The Flame series, Surrender and Justice!

And now, an excerpt from Vulture.

“Are you afraid of the Horsemen?” the little girl asked. Kaliel didn’t look at her, but she nodded in response. “You should be. Morgana brought them.” Her voice was syrupy sweet.

Kaliel carefully lifted her head from her knees. The little girl’s eyes knifed into her, crackling with jagged lines of lightning. The Horsemen kicked dust into Kaliel’s eyes and she recoiled, blinking rapidly, tears streaming down her cheeks.

“Why did she bring them?” Kaliel asked, scowling at the girl. Blood dripped off the little girl’s hands. She held them palms to the sky, like offering the blood to the stars.

“Because she’s coming for him,” she said.

“Who is she?”

The little girl smirked. “She’s me of course.”

There was a loud gust of wind and Kaliel fell on her hands and knees as laughter erupted from the little girl. The sour sound of chimes rose into the tornado of brambles and dust. It pierced Kaliel’s ears with the fortitude of a thousand bells ringing all at once. The sound made her cover her ears, trying to muffle the noise. “What do you want?” she shouted through gritted teeth. Her hands splayed across either side of her head to protect her eyes from the threat of the thorns but it was no use. They whipped her body with needles, the fresh scent of blood rising into the air as her skin broke open.

“I want him.”

And because we love you guys, here's an AWESOME giveaway!

Girls Heart Books Tours: The Island by Jen Minkman- Review

The Island
Jen Minkman
Expected Publication Date-June 1, 2013
*Novella* (80 pages)
Genre: YA Dystopian

‘I walk toward the sea. The endless surface of the water extends to the horizon, whichever way I look.

Our world is small. We are on our own, and we only have ourselves to depend on. We rely on the Force deep within us, as taught to us by our forefathers.

If I were to walk westward from here, I would come across a barrier – the Wall.

Behind it, there are Fools. At least, that’s what everyone says.

I have never seen one.’

Leia lives on the Island, a world in which children leave their parents to take care of themselves when they are ten years old. Across this Island runs a wall that no one has ever crossed. The Fools living behind it are not amenable to reason – they believe in illusions. That’s what The Book says, the only thing left to the Eastern Islanders by their ancestors.

But when a strange man washes ashore and Leia meets a Fool face to face, her life will never be the same. Is what she and her friends believe about the Island really true?

Or is everyone in their world, in fact, a Fool?

...How in the world...?

I am very confused... I do not understand how Minkman managed to get that much story and depth and emotion into less than 100 pages... As it is so short I can't really explain much about this novella but... Oh my God...

I feel like I can never review novellas, as they are short stories and, what, am I going to tell you all all the action that happened on page one? There's nothing I can say without wrecking it. Which SUCKS because I really LOVED this and I wanna fangirl. *pouts*

Okay... Let's see. I can say I loved every character. I can say Minkman's writing is poetic, almost, and that I am going to stalk this woman for the rest of her writing career in hopes she writes more YA Dystopian... GAH... I just... I am in love.

Five stars. Honestly, people, BUY it and READ it and LOVE it... and then message me so I can talk to somebody...lol

Jen Minkman (1978) was born in Holland, in the town of Alphen aan den Rijn. When she was 19, she moved between The Hague, Salzburg (Austria), Brussels (Belgium) and Cambridge (UK) to complete her studies in intercultural communication. She is currently a teacher of English, career counsellor and teenage coach at a secondary school in Voorburg, Holland. She tries to read at least 100 books a year (and write a few, too!). She is a published author in her own country, and translates her own books from Dutch into English for self-publication.

In her spare time, she plays the piano, the guitar and the violin. For every novel she writes, she creates a soundtrack.

'I have always been drawn to writing. My first book was a sci-fi novel at the age of eight, which I painstakingly typed out on my dad's typewriter and illustrated myself. Nowadays, I stick to poetry, paranormal romance, chicklit and/or fantasy. In my home country, I am the first-ever published writer of paranormal romance, and I will gradually make my books also available in English (seeing I have to re-write and translate the books myself, this will take some time!).

Sneak Peak of Smitten:

"You don't need to babysit me," I said laughing. "I'm a big girl, and I can take care of myself, regardless of what Hunter thinks."
"That may be," Russ replied, leaning back onto his elbows as he stared at me. "But I'm not taking any chances. Hunter would slit my throat if something happened to you."
I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "He loves you too much to do anything like that. Especially after he saved your life once already. He’d never do anything to hurt you—you know that.”
He shrugged. "Would you risk his full wrath to find out if that's true?"
I laughed heartily. "Point taken."
"Did you get your math homework done?"
"I did. Are you ready for the big test?" I went to the bed to get my bag and books sitting there.
"No, but then again, I doubt I ever will be. I'll walk with you to class, though—might as well get the torture over with.” He gave a hefty sigh of defeat.
I chuckled again. "I'm sure it won’t be that bad.”
“I beg to differ,” he replied. “Not all of us are mathematical geniuses like you. The rest of us humble folk have to be content to wallow in the shadows of people like you, Oh Great One.”
I couldn’t help my snort. “Whatever! You’re so full of crap! You’re amazing and you know it!”
He gave me a warm stare. “You know, I wish we would’ve known each other better in high school. You’re a pretty awesome chick. I totally see why Hunter digs you so much.” He opened the door, and I followed him out.
“Yeah, it’s too bad everyone is so worried about cliques and social status.”
“That wasn’t why I didn’t talk to you.”
“Really?” I asked, surprised. “Why then?”
“You were too intimidating.”
I laughed. “Excuse me? How?”
“You were this gorgeous, smart, girl. What girl like you would pay attention to a guy like me?”
I stared at him, my jaw hanging open. “You’re not serious, are you? Have you looked at yourself in the mirror? You’re a great looking guy, with a spectacular personality. Any girl would be lucky to have you!”
“And that right there is precisely why I couldn’t talk to you. You use words like spectacular. That’s intimidating to us hard-to-educate people. Big words are hard to comprehend.”
I laughed. “Comprehend is almost as big as spectacular. There’s only one letter difference.”
He shook his head. “You’re only proving my point more. Who knows that kind of stuff? Besides, one letter makes a world of difference!”
“You’re sure about that?” I couldn’t help laughing when Russ was around. He always brought a smile to my face.
“Positive.”
“How do you figure?”
He paused and put his hands on his hips staring me down. “You don’t need a reason. It is because I say it is. That’s all that matters.”
I bit my lip, unable to hide my smile.
“What?” he asked.
“You just sounded like my parents.”
He hung his head in defeat and gave a sigh. “You’ve completely deflated my ego.”
“Well it’s a good thing I happen to enjoy spending time with the ego-less then, isn’t it?” I linked my arm through his and started dragging him toward the lobby door. “Come on. We’re going to be late for class.”
