Friday Fever is a weekly event hosted here at Girls *Heart* Books. Every Friday, we will showcase one of our favorite steamy and/or romantic scenes. You know the ones we're talking about; those that get your pulse thumping and your temperature rising. Enjoy.

I'd barely processed his words before he'd pulled me up from the chair and covered my mouth with his own. His scent overwhelmed me--citrus and leather and something else that made my mouth water. I was almost too shocked to react. I was acutely aware of the fact that he was kissing me in the middle of a bar, until he nipped at my bottom lip. Then I forgot about everything but him. My whole body shuddered, and my heart dropped down toward my stomach like the force of gravity had doubled. My head was swimming, but I didn't care. I opened my mouth, and immediately his tongue swept in, taking control. My hands clutched at his back, and in response, he pulled me closer. His kiss was slow and then fast, tender and then punishing. We were pressed together so tightly that I could feel every plane of his body, but still I wanted to be closer. His hand slid up the back of my shirt--hot fingers pressed into my already over-heated flesh. A moan escaped my mouth at the intimate contact. Immediately, I regretted it, because the sound seemed to clear his head, and he pulled away.

I couldn't stop my lips from following him, but he stayed out of reach of my kiss. Instead he groaned, ducked his head, and placed a hot kiss on my neck.

My brain was definitely dialed down. I was all body in that moment, and God, it felt good. I was only the sum of my nerve endings, which were going crazy. He exhaled heavily, and it scorched my skin. His voice was raspy when he spoke, "Sorry. Got carried away."

Those were exactly the right words. Carried away. I had never been so caught up in another person before. I'd never been so . . . out of control.

*drools* This is by far the best book I read all year of 2012 and I still adore it.. Yum. Seriously. Read this.

Mel & Lana's Top 10 Indie Authors of 2012 & Giveaway

While contemplating our favorite books of 2012, Lana and I realized there were quite a few Indie books that  topped our charts. Then we realized that a lot of those were series written by some pretty amazing Indie authors. D.T. Dyllin is the author of the P.J. Stone Gates Trilogy & The Death Trilogy.  I was lucky enough to read an arc of Enemy Through the Gates (before Dyllin signed with Dragonfairy Press and changed the name to Hidden Gates).  P.J.'s story had me hooked from the very beginning. And I really loved that it was New Adult, so it was a bit steamier than the YA I'd been reading a lot of before that.  I cannot wait for the second book in the series. ~Mel

Kaye Thornbrugh is the author of paranormal YA novel, Flicker. I got the chance to read this AH-MAH-ZING faerie book a few months ago and it is still one of my absolute favorites (and I am very, very picky person when it comes to the fae). I loved Lee from the start and still wish to kidnap and keep Filo (though I do ship him with Alice...Alice, Lana, they both have L's...). The second book in the Flicker series cannot come fast enough! ~Lana

Frankie Rose is the author of the phenomenal  Hope Series and the upcoming Raksha. I read Sovereign Hope in July and I have been completely besotted with the series ever since. When I finished it, I was sure I'd have to wait at least another year for the next installment. I was very happy when Eternal Hope released in October of the same year.  Aside from being a fantastically talented author, Frankie makes kick-ass book trailers & covers and she's  a pretty  fabulous person. Ada Adams  is the author of the Angel Creek Series.  One of the many reasons I adore Ada is that she took a genre (vampires) that I felt was quickly becoming overdone and gave it a complete overhaul and the result was ReVamped. The title is so very fitting. Ada Adams made vampires fun for me to read about again and honestly, I didn't think it could be done.  So again, I thank you, Ada for writing books that I am now hopelessly addicted to.~Mel

Kristen Day is the author of the Daughters of the Sea Trilogy. This series is amazingly addictive and action packed and really different from anything else out right now. We really can't get enough of her or the fantastically hunky male lead, Finn.  We like Stasia, too..honest! Kristen has also spoiled us by releasing both books 1 & 2 (Forsaken & Awaken) in 2012. Lana and I have been yearning for the final book in the series, Chosen.  I have a feeling I'll be devouring it in a day as soon as I can get my hands on it.  ~Mel

Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and as simply as possible-- a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if that weren't embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She'd left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.

I decided to read Carmack's novel for a few reasons-- One, I need a little human-drama amongst the insane amount of paranormal goodness I've been reading lately. Two, a friend of mine was reading it, and when I saw the update on her Goodreads, I was immediately drawn to the cover (I mean, really, look at that! Hot and not obscenely graphic and ohhh, I love it). And three, I need a little romance every once and a while... Which reminds me--

This is a NEW ADULT BOOK with SEXUAL CONTENT. If you do not like these matters, please move along.

Anyway, back to business. I was instantly intrigued by the summary and immediately snatched it up, pushing aside everything else (well, almost) and starting this one up. I have to say, I am extremely impressed.

Not only does this book have deliciously wonderful romance scenes (ayyy), it is riddled with quick wit and hilarity that not even Comedy Central could top, along with tear-jerking moments and a cutie with an accent. Oh yeah, it is the works. It is so bluntly real. It is officially on my favorites list. I rarely see such realistic fiction with my current selections these days, and this was everything I've been craving! And even though book two doesn't center around Garrick (good sweet bippy *queue the drooling*) and Bliss (who is creepily like myself at some points...), I am sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for more. 

Ms. Carmack, you officially have a new stalker. :3
